‘If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.’
It so true, don’t you think?
How many people do you think believe that they can change their life?
Do you believe you can change YOUR life? Do you believe you can get to that elusive, more fulfilling place?
The very fact that you are reading this blog tells me that, deep down, you believe you can.
I want to share some thoughts with you on how you can start that change and begin to create the unstoppable momentum that could take you to a place you never thought you were capable of reaching.
Creating a new world and a better you is not easy. It takes time, dedication and sacrifice.
But if you commit, you’ll find that it’s the best, most nourishing, most fulfilling journey you could possibly embark on.
Here are some essential points to bear in mind if you’re serious about treading a new path…
This is so, so important.
Where has your own personal journey got you to so far? Think about why you are where you are. What have you learned about yourself? What do you like about yourself and what strengths do you have? What areas do you want to improve and what bad habits do you want to rid yourself of?
You can’t really begin the process of deep, meaningful change if you don’t understand where you’re at right now.
So, take some time and really think hard about how you can answer these questions to gain clarity on your life situation.
Opportunity is everywhere.
Do you really think that the 9-5 is the only way you can make a living? Do you really believe you are resigned to working in an office for the rest of your working lives? Can you really see yourself working for someone else in a job you don’t like for the next 30 years?!
Being open-minded is an advantage in every area of life. The very fact that you are open to an alternative route separates you from the majority. And if you are thinking on a different trajectory from the majority that’s surely a good thing!
Stay open-minded, expectant and intentional. Learn the Law of Attraction. A golden opportunity WILL come your way.
Becoming a better version of yourself will not come easy. Some days you will wonder why on earth you are even bothering. It’s not hard to find an excuse to slip back into the old ways of thinking and to let those same negative behaviours sabotage you again.
You will have an internal battle in your brain, with the resident Chimp telling you that you’re not clever enough, you’re taking too much of a risk, you’re too tired and it’s too stressful. All you need to do is observe these negative thoughts. They don’t serve you so don’t act on them.
And if you do have a bad day, make a mistake or lapse from time to time, who cares? Just dust yourself off and start again the next day.
Every failure is a step closer to success.
You KNOW you can do this!
To doubt is to be human. It shows you are an introspective, contemplative person. There are enough fools out there who live their lives with utter certainty and conviction at all times. The only thing they don’t know is their own ignorance.
Don’t be one of those people.
Doubting yourself means you want to keep learning about your place in the world. That’s a great thing! It means you want to keep developing, to continue on your path to being a better, more rounded person.
But be wary of that Chimp! You want your doubt to be something that is insightful and makes you reflect, not something that sabotages you at every turn.
Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Embrace the fear.
You are on a new road, one that you have committed to and you know will take you to a happy place. But you don’t know exactly where that place is or even when you might get there and that’s scary.
You might want to turn around some days and run back to safer territory.
But, just remember that the true value in what you are doing isn’t the destination but is the journey.
As long as your intentions are good and you stay open-minded good things will come your way. And on your journey you will find that you learn so much more about yourself than you ever thought possible.
Trust In Your Journey.
Einstein understood all about change and said it best:
‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’
